It’s official! THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN production has been greenlit and I now have the latest free auditions information. The fourth saga in the Twilight Series is going back to it’s roots and will be filmed in Portland, Oregon. Principal photography will not begin until September, 2010 – the exact dates for the acting auditions have not been determined. The Breaking Dawn’s director has yet to be officially announced, however sources say that Gus Van Sant has signed on. Van Sant’s directing schedule fits perfectly, as he will wrap filming on “Restless” (which is being produced by Bryce Dallas Howard and currently shooting in Portland until January 3rd, 2010) before Breaking Dawn I goes into production, and he is not set to film anything else until 2011 – after Breaking Dawn II would wrap production. A new production company, Sunswept Entertainment, has been brought on board for Breaking Dawn. Sunswept Entertainment was created by Karen Rosenfelt, who is the daughter of former MGM Chairman & CEO Frank Edward Rosenfelt. Karen Rosenfelt served as Producer on both “Twilight” and on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. She did not work on “New Moon”, but is producing “Breaking Dawn through her Sunswept Entertainment banner. There will likely be massive acting auditions talent search for the role of Renesmee Cullen, the half-vampire, half-human daughter of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, just as there was through Actorcast for the roles of Seth and Leah Clearwater in “Eclipse”. Many other roles are also to be cast. SOURCE: Acting Auditions |

Robert Pattinson has revealed that the follow-up to New Moon could receive an adult rating. The 23-year-old actor has said that Eclipse, the third instalment of the Twilight saga, is a “massively different movie” that could potentially be rated R due to its “huge” battle sequences, STV reports. Pattinson said: “It’s a massively different movie to New Moon. There’s so many more main parts, and having these huge battle sequences, I’ve never done anything like it in any of the other movies. “I think it’s really pushing the – I don’t know what rating Twilight was in England, like the American PG-13 or 18 – I think it’s pushing it to the absolute limit. It would be so funny if it was R-rated.” SOURCE: Digital Spy |

17-year-old actor Taylor Lautner tells Seventeen magazine in an interview that he had his first kiss when he was still a junior high student. “It was sometime in junior high. I don’t remember what year, but it was definitely in junior high,” he opens up. “I think it was just with a random girl from school. I mean, it’s not like I walked up to her and was like ‘You’re just a random girl and I’m going to kiss you,’ but just a girl from school, and we had a little thing in junior high.” Speaking of girls, the Jacob Black of “Twilight” admits that though he has become famous, he still finds it hard to talk with people from the opposite sex. “I definitely wouldn’t say I overcame that. I guess it just depends on the girl. Sometimes I’ll feel free to completely open up, and I wish I could do that more often because that’s what I look for in a girl. Someone that can open up and be herself, but no, I definitely haven’t overcome it completely,” so he confesses. And when asked about what kind of woman he goes for, Taylor tells Seventeen he doesn’t like a girl who “doesn’t know how to smile or laugh” and tries “to play cool all the time.” He claims, “Playing hard to get is not the way to win me over. I’m definitely more for the girl who can smile and laugh all the time and just have a good time!” In the same interview, the young film star also tells the magazine about his worst habit, while at the same time puts to rest report emerged earlier this year that he was battling restless leg syndrome. “I bounce my knees, but I do not have restless leg syndrome,” he states. “I did an interview, I don’t even know who it was with, and they said I told them I have restless leg syndrome and it distracts me from my work. I do not have any syndrome. I actually have many friends [like me] who just bounce their knees.” SOURCE: Seventeen/AceShowBiz |

THIS WEEKEND The highly-anticipated launch of the high school romance The Twilight Saga: New Moon could send the North American box office soaring to its highest level in 16 months. The female-driven phenomenon will have some company on the charts as Sandra Bullock’s football drama The Blind Side and the animated comedy Planet 51 will offer some new choices to those not interested in vampires, werewolves, and the ladies in between. With some big holdovers still in release, the top ten will be flirting with the $200M mark making it the largest November weekend in history. Summit scored a massive blockbuster this weekend last year with Twilight which spun gold from a popular novel with a loyal following and a collection of little known actors. Just like with the Harry Potter series, the Twilight franchise also launches its second installment one year later on the same mid-November weekend. But whereas the second wizard flick posted a slightly smaller bow, New Moon will see substantial growth in its numbers thanks to more fans, more attention, and 605 more theaters. The PG-13 pic has a new director in Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass, American Pie) but still features the three main characters played once again by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. Lautner gets a bigger role this time around, as do Pattinson’s hair care products. A year ago, Twilight opened in 3,419 locations and grossed a stunning $69.6M proving how powerful the franchise was. It was the fourth best opening of 2008, the fifth highest for November, and the second largest debut ever from outside the major Hollywood studios. Females made up 75% of the audience and while younger women were the core, the age range was broad with plenty of mother-daughter biz. The first shows at midnight on late Thursday brought in $7M and with more fan frenzy this time, that figure could triple. Saturday grosses collapsed a disturbing 41% and New Moon could do the same or even fall harder since fans don’t want to wait to see the Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle any longer than they have to. Mega-intense demand to see the film as early as possible means that Thursday night’s midnight shows will deliver grosses that have never been seen outside of summer. New Moon may follow a pattern like last summer’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The latest wizard pic bowed on a Wednesday in the summer making it different, but it pushed an unbelievable amount of its total opening weekend business to those first midnight shows. Prince set a new record with $22.2M worth of sales for its late Tuesday night showtimes representing 14% of the five-day $158M debut. That compares to 9% for its predecessor Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and 8% for this year’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, both of which opened on a Wednesday with first shows at midnight on Tuesday night. New Moon is a Friday opener outside of the summer so the dynamic will be different, but you can bet that Thursday night figures will be among the best ever for night-before shows and unless repeat business kicks in right away, it could let some steam out of Friday-to-Sunday moviegoing. Remember, Twilight absorbed an exceptionally high 52% of its opening weekend tally on Friday so New Moon could be even more front-loaded. Of course, if fans love what they see then their online feedback will spread instantaneously and energize other groups. The marketing push from Summit has been relentless and awareness is sky high among fans. Winning over non-fans and men in general will be tough. The distributor should inform single guys everywhere that if they want to know where the girls are this weekend, it’ll be at the local multiplex. How much growth the New Moon opening will see will depend on how many patrons for Twilight saw the film after the first three days. Those folks are likely to be there in the first frame this time around. Looking at the recent James Bond films which also opened in November, Quantum of Solace’s bow grew 65% over Casino Royale’s from two years earlier. Don’t expect the same jump, but an increase of 40% or more is certainly possible, especially with the extra playdates. Both MovieTickets.com and Fandango have reported that New Moon has broken their all-time advance sales records surpassing blockbusters like Star Wars Episode III and The Dark Knight. What they don’t mention is that the new Twilight flick had its tickets go on sale extraordinarily early – nearly three months before the release date. Still the film industry is set to see one of the biggest openings of all-time and one of the largest blockbusters of the year which will help raise the overall marketplace ahead of the lucrative Thanksgiving holiday next week. Opening in 4,024 theaters, The Twilight Saga: New Moon could collect around $102M this weekend. SOURCE: BoxOfficeGuru |

New Moon is going to open huge today, no doubt about it, so it’s never too soon to look ahead. Many reports have called it much darker, with new director David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night), so we asked if the PG-13 audience would still be able to hang. Plus, we’ve got more updates for you on the fate of Breaking Dawn… First up, Eclipse. “It is a little edgier, only because there’s more action in book three,” Twilight and N.M. producer Bannerman tells us. “We have the advance of the newborn army, and our Cullens have to defend themselves, and the wolves become allies. That doesn’t happen in New Moon, yet.” Don’t worry, tho, Rosenberg said she kept the third script very true to the book. “[The movie] expands on [the book] in some ways—in a movie we can go away from Bella’s point of view. So we can go see what Victoria’s up to. In some ways we get to see more than what the book can show.” As for whether Slade changed the tone at all? Melissa adds: “The book is darker, so I think the story is darker. David is the perfect director to bring that to life. He has such a great, intense sensibility. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he does.” Now onto what most of us are drooling to hear about: Breaking Dawn. “I think the fans will define the fate of the franchise,” Bannerman dishes. “There is no script yet, and if Melissa is working on one, I don’t know about it. She’s the one that would be first point of contact. I think everyone wants to see it happen, if the momentum gains I don’t know why it wouldn’t [happen].” As for whether that would be one final movie or two: “I don’t know. The book can either be simplified or stay intact. It’s a longer book than the previous three; it’s hard to tell what they’ll do. I’m looking forward to the surprise!” B.D. most definitely will happen, we can assure you. Plus, we know that Rosenberg is already signed on to pen the screenplay for the “Breaking Dawn films,” as insiders refer to them. Most likely, the holdup is Rob, Kristen and newly important Taylor. If they are up to making two more movies, the studio won’t miss out on the opportunity to cash in double-time, trust. But from what we’re hearing, they have so far only agreed to one more after Eclipse. Also, insiders tell us how well New Moon does in theaters will influence how many more Twilight films Summit will squeeze out. Money talks, ya know? Even to tired and overpromoted actors. The second-class Twi kids are eagerly awaiting a decision, too. “I don’t know anything about Breaking Dawn,” Michael Welch also added. “I assume it will be made. I did hear a rumor it might be made into two films.” SOURCE: E! Online |
