The decision-makers at Summit Entertainment know a good thing when they see one. By good thing, I mean Taylor Lautner. By Taylor Lautner, I mean shirtless Taylor Lautner fighting bad guys and stuff. That’s the method to Summit’s madness as the movie studio is developing a new action film for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” star Lautner titled “Cancun” based on a spec script from Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson. Lautner is developing the film alongside his father Dan Lautner. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Cancun” focuses on “an out-of-place college kid who travels with a girl to Cancun on a break. While there, the girl and her friends are taken hostage by a drug cartel and he is forced to save them.” There is currently no word on whether or not the young actor will turn into a werewolf in the film, but my mind is telling me no — even though my body is telling me yes. Summit is developing “Cancun” as a way to show off Lautner’s martial arts skills, which the “New Moon” star has plenty of, as demonstrated by his recent hosting gig on Saturday Night Live. Still, “Cancun” isn’t likely to be a hard-edged, R-rated action film. Given the tropical setting and Lautner’s current fan base, it’s a safer bet that “Cancun” will be a lighter fight flick, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing by any account. It’s unknown whether or not “Max Steel,” Taylor’s recently announced project, will be affected by the news of “Cancun.” Stay tuned for more on that, Lautner lovers! SOURCE: MTV Movies |

Taylor Lautner may be used to white Christmases of the past, but he’ll soon be basking in the sun once again. Summit Entertainment is teaming back up the 17-year-old New Moon star and heading to Cancun, THR reports. Cancun is the first project for Taylor and dad Dan Lautner’s new production company. The story follows an out-of-place college kid who travels with a girl to Cancun on a break. While there, the girl and her friends are taken hostage by a drug cartel and he is forced to save them. ‘New Moon’ star hangs out with Bon Jovi, Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers at ‘Saturday Night Live’ afterparty. After giving Kanye West a piece of his mind and spoofing his famous abs during his hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, “New Moon” star Taylor Lautner still had a little energy left in him to enjoy the “SNL” afterparty. The 17-year-old actor, along with the night’s musical guest Jon Bon Jovi, hung with the cast of the show at New York hotspot Matsuri. While chilling out with “SNL” stars Andy Samberg and Seth Meyers, Lautner dined on a sirloin steak, according to MTV News sources. Taylor Swift, Lautner’s rumored girlfriend, was not at the party, despite the fact that she was in town the night before to perform at Z100′s Jingle Ball. Lautner reportedly left the shindig at around 4 a.m., surrounded by bodyguards, while fans waited outside the restaurant to catch a glimpse of the star. Lautner was the first Twilighter to host the famed comedy show. And when he wasn’t taking a good-natured jab at the Swift romance rumors (much like she did when she hosted the show last month), he was joking about “Twilight” fans and the fact that he is shirtless during much of “New Moon.” “I took my shirt off a lot — too much, in fact,” Lautner said in his monologue. “Even Matthew McConaughey told me to cool it.” SOURCE: MTV |

Adding to the wealth of insight already offered by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade over the past few months is a list of updates which he delivered via Twitter this afternoon. In the stream of updates, Slade announced that the post-production team was working on reviewing the wolves, saying they are “looking better & better.” Slade also said a mouthful when he said that “[t]he Eclipse story and they way we approached the film calls for a much more realistic approach.” What exactly,= that means is yet to be seen. Slade also stated that the Eclipse team is near to attaining a composer for the film and that the focus of the movie is upon the literal love triangle that exists between Edward (Robert Pattinson), Bella (Kristen Stewart), and Jacob (Taylor Lautner). Edward seems to be a really strong presence, the intensity of the love story & rivalry between Jacob is in the driving seat. Jacob & Bella are matching with intensity, & it’s all even with the action sequences. Right now we are in a great state of balance. So far, so good then? As many of you have pointed out, the Eclipse story is action-oriented, yes, but its primary focus (and, hopefully, the primary emphasis of the film) is upon the love story that exists between these three. Finally, despite the heavy progress reported upon, Slade sent a reminder that there are still two hundred days to go until the film is released. SOURCE: Twilight Examiner |

It’s safe to say there are no fanggirls at the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences. The Oscar hander-outers today revealed the 15 films shortlisted as semifinalists in the category of Achievement in Visual Effects ahead of the Feb. 2 nominations, and sadly neither Taylor Lautner’s lycanthropic transformation nor—more impressively—his abs made the cut. But what the maybe-contenders lack in werewolves, they more than make up for with wands, black hole-injected planets, kids’ literature classics and, well, Jim Carrey. The gold men will be handed out by Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin and their cadre of A-list presenters (there’s hope for the wolf pack, yet!) on March 7! SOURCE: E! Will a “Twilight Saga” star be stepping into Pee-Wee Herman’s white wingtips? “Taylor Lautner’s playing Pee-Wee in the movie. That’s what I understand,” Paul Reubens, in character as Pee-Wee, joked to Access Hollywood on Monday. The “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” star is making a comeback with a new stage show in Los Angeles, debuting at Club Nokia in January – and he added that a pair of movies are in the works. “There’s going to be at least two new movies. Most people don’t know about it, yet, including all the studios,” he laughed with his trademark “ha-ha.” “I’m sure there will be in my lifetime.” As for the reason to resurrect his famous character, Paul said he just felt Pee- Wee calling. “I just got up one day and felt like I’m gonna come back, that was it,” Paul said. “I just felt like, ‘Not doing that much, might be fun to rehearse a show for weeks and weeks and weeks.’” In the meantime, the funnyman has been involved in scientific pursuits. “I’m involved a lot with the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, space exploration,” he said. “We just discovered water on the moon, I’m sure you’ve heard about that.
