The producer thinks so The cast aren’t yet signed, they don’t know if it’s going to be one film or two, the script isn’t finished and they haven’t figured out the effects, but The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is expected nevertheless to start shooting this coming autumn, shortly after the release of third instalment Eclipse. That’s according to series producer Wyck Godfrey, talking to the LA Times, anyway. The fourth book in the series, Breaking Dawn presents some extreme filmmaking challenges, a few of which are neatly summed up here in case you’re spoiler averse. SPOILERS There are also some effects challenges presented beyond the body-horror aspects listed in the link above; the second half of the book features a half-human, half-vampire infant who is walking and talking by the time she’s about a week old, requiring massive amounts of CG either in conjunction with or instead of an actual baby actor.END SPOILERS With the script and treatment still not settled, this is all very much up in the air, but the grosses of the last two films suggest that it will get made. If they can just figure out how to get round the gross bits… SOURCE: EmpireOnline |

Enough Nonsten nonsense stuff, let’s take a quick break to go back to the whole damn thing that made Rob, Kristen, Taylor and the gang: the movies. People get so wrapped up in these kids’ private lives, we forget there’s still tons of fun drama happening inside our favorite studio that brings The Twilight Saga to life! Deep Twi tells us there is no director set yet for Breaking Dawn because no one can decide on whether it’s going to be one movie or two. It seems that series mastermind Stephenie Meyer and Summit have slightly different agendas on that one… “Stephenie is calling the shots,” our mole tells us, “and she still can’t decide whether or not [making two movies] is the right thing to do creatively.” Deep Twi insists that everything—including splitting Breaking Dawn into two films—is run by Meyer (after all she penned the friggin’ thing). “Both sides have very different agendas,” ‘fesses our insider. See, here’s the breakdown… Stephenie doesn’t need the money, so what does she care? It’s double the work to split this film up. Adds our source: “Meyer isn’t in it for the fame. She hates doing press, and she doesn’t want to be recognized for anything other than her work, so what’s her incentive to drag [the book] out?” Of course, we’re assured she does want to please the fans, but isn’t four films enough? Summit is doing its best to “politely inspire” Stephenie to greenlight the two-flick route. For them, double the work equals double the money. Studios care more about that green stuff than an out-of-nowhere millionaire housewife. “The right creative solution” is the term everyone is bantering about over at the studio, when basically, it’s all about trying to convince Meyer to do it. Says Deep Twi: “They keep trying to persuade her it’s the right thing to do artistically. They’re constantly waiting for her input.” Jeez, is it actually harder for a devout Mormon to whore out her creative baby than, say, a reported Protestant like J.K. Rowling, who certainly had no difficulties milking the Harry Potter flicks for all they were worth? Oh, and Steph, just some more food for thought: If you put the kibosh on an extra Twilight film, Twi-hards are going to have your rich little booty for din-din! Trust us, you’ll be skinned alive, diced, fried and then flambéed alive. These are fans you do not want to disappoint. SOURCE: E! Online |

It’s been one of the biggest questions surrounding Summit Entertainment’s uber-successful “Twilight” franchise (apart, of course, from whether stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson really are a couple off-screen) — just how the producers are going to manage to pull off a big-screen adaptation of “Breaking Dawn.” The fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s juggernaut of a young adult fiction series about the epic love affair between high school student Bella Swan and her good-guy vampire beau Edward Cullen has plenty of heft, clocking in at upward of 750 pages, but it also has the distinction of being the most controversial entry in the saga. When it was released in August 2008, fan reaction was intense and divided with some “Twi-hards” expressing confusion and dismay over a plot that involved *SPOILER ALERT* a recently graduated 19-year-old Bella giving birth to a half-human/half-vamp daughter named Renesmee, who grows much faster than the average mortal child and who possesses a unique way of communicating with those around her, clearly inherited from Dad’s side of the family. Wyck Godfrey, the producer of all the films in the “Twilight” saga, admits that the creative team still doesn’t know how they’ll handle the character in the “Breaking Dawn” movie, but said that the plan is absolutely for the production to go forward — as either one or two installments — with an eye toward beginning to shoot in Vancouver this fall. All three stars are signed for “Breaking Dawn,” he said, meaning that Stewart and Pattinson will be dealing with the joys and woes of interspecies parenting and newly minted heartthrob Taylor Lautner will return as often-shirtless shape-shifter Jacob Black. At the moment, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who’s penned all the “Twilight” movies, is working on the “Breaking Dawn” script(s). “It’s a work in process,” Godfrey said in an interview Friday. “The issue [of whether there will be one or two movies] is not going to be resolved until we get the full treatment and see whether it’s organic. If it’s not organic, I don’t think it will be done, and if it is, it will be. It really has to do with how much level of detail from the books there is, with all of these new vampires that appear in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ the whole section about Jacob… It’s a very long single movie if it does become a single movie.” Although there’s been a great deal of online chatter about whether Chris Weitz, director of the second and most recent movie, “New Moon,” would return to helm “Breaking Dawn,” Godfrey downplayed that possibility, saying, “I think everyone would be happy and excited if he came back, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.” He and the other principals are formulating a list of potential directors, “but right now,” Godfrey said, “we’re just focused on the treatment and getting that right. At that point, we’re going to see who’s available and who’s appropriate. It’s such a complicated book because you have the emotions and the intensity of the love story — so you need somebody who’s just a wonderful director of actors — and yet it’s really complicated from an action and visual effects standpoint. They’ve got to have both tools in their kit.” A visual effects background might be particularly helpful when it comes to dealing with the character of Renesmee. “I keep having visions of ‘[The Curious Case of] Benjamin Button’ in my head,” Godfrey said, referring to David Fincher’s Oscar-nominated 2008 fantasy about a man who becomes physically younger as he ages. “It’s certainly going to be visual effects in some capacity along with an actor. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being a full CG creation, but it also may be a human shot on a soundstage that then is used to shrink down. I don’t know. We need a director. When we get a director, that director will need to come with a point of view of how they want to tackle it.” The third movie in the series, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” is due in theaters June 30. NOVEL: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer DIRECTOR: David Slade SCREENPLAY: Melissa Rosenberg CAST: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Anna Kendrick, Jackson Rathbone, and Kellan Lutz RELEASE DATE (U.S.): June 30th STORY: This is the third part in the story of Bella Swan, a young woman who’s found herself in love with a century-old vampire and best friends with a brand new werewolf. She has far worse things to worry about than those two, though, as an entire newborn army of ravenous vampires waits to pillage her hometown of Forks, Washington in order to get to her. WHY IT MADE THE LIST: Well, there are several reasons why Eclipse made the list, not the least of which is that I am partial to the series (see Twilight Examiner). More importantly, though, David Slade looks to bring a healthy balance of emotion and raw suspense in the film, making it a promising book-to-film translation. SOURCE: Twilight Examiner |

Taylor Lautner spent the last year all pumped and primped within an inch of his girlie gym-body tummy, but to what end? We went on a mission to discover if all that sweat will finally pay off in his next Twilight appearance alongside the gal he so doesn’t deserve, Kristen Stewart. We demanded to know just how love-tingling Eclipse, due this summer, may or may not be (we actually may be seeing it shortly). Super plugged-in source Deep Twi responded: “It’s more about the fight scenes. They’re awesome; it’s what it’s all about.” Like idiots, Taryn and I inquired about this grave matter with great hope, since Breaking Dawn, we’re still assured, will be “very” sexy and “much more” emotionally romantic between stars Robert Pattinson and Stewart. As to whether or not Lautner provides K.Stew with some more ab-perfect battling for her R.Pattz allegiance in Eclipse, we were told: “No, it’s even more action than New Moon, that’s where the tension is between them all.” Damn those Mormons. They’re always causing such problems. Stephenie Meyer, who’s still watching the fantastically successful baby she created like a sexually repressed hawk, is constantly swooping in and asserting her wait-until-marriage sex thing. This has got to stop. “She’s still a creative consultant,” another Twi insider relayed to us. “Everything goes by her.” Translation: No bumping uglies—or anything remotely close—transpires until Edward and Bella are properly united in Breaking Dawn. So not fair. Not to mention preposterously ridiculous. Could you imagine if Miley Cyrus had been cast as Bella instead of Kristen? Exactly. Still, guess the good news is that B.D., in all it’s church-sanctioned matrimonial nooky, will be a celluloid treat for all of us who just can’t wait for Rob and Kris—I mean Edward and Bella—to finally get it on. I mean, how much horny longing and moping can fans of romantic movies take? It’s torture, nothing less! SOURCE: E! Online |

Star Magazine is reporting that Taylor Lautner may have broken up with country cutie Taylor Swift to rekindle his relationship with ex-girlfriend and Disney Star Selena Gomez. Taylor S and Selena had been hanging out quite a bit right after Sel and Taylor L broke up, that is, until he started dating Taylor S. The two remained friends but weren’t spotted out and about as much in public. There didn’t seem to be any animosity between the two lovely ladies over sharing a certain werwolf, but we’re not sure if that remains true if Star Magazine is correct and he has rebounded back to Selena again. The insider who spoke to the magazine said that Taylor S and Taylor L ended their time together because “apart from their name, they don’t have much in common.” SOURCE: Star Magazine |
