Post Categories: Eclipse

This still is from Eclipse – it does not feature Taylor but if you look on Kristen’s wrist, the bracelet with the wolf that Jacob got her is on the bracelet – so this is the bedroom scene in the book Eclipse if you remember when Edward gives Bella a diamond heart.

Well, there’s no Eclipse stills, no new photos yet or anything. A lot of you have been asking me about the photos on the layout. I figured since it’s Valentines Day and there’s love in the air….here’s 1 of them:

Post Categories: Eclipse

I know that Eclipse news has been lacking. But there should be promotion for the movie soon since it’s 3 and 1/2 months away (wow can’t believe that)….well anyways. There have been new stills from the movie, but all 9 stills that have been released are literally ALL Robert and Kristen. I’m hoping maybe soon some Taylor scenes will leak out but we do not have any yet nor have they been released.

I will put them up AS SOON AS I get them so keep checking back here. Promotion for the movie will start soon and I’m sure that the website will be launching VERY soon. So there will be Eclipse mania starting in the next few weeks in the news, photos, photoshoots, etc.

Post Categories: Valentine's Day

Director Garry Marshall and his pack of A-list stars are on track to win the President’s Day weekend with the ensemble romantic comedy Valentine’s Day. Friday’s opening for the film starring Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper and many, many others is estimated at approximately $15 million, a number that is likely to reach over $50 million for the 4-day holiday frame. The other two new wide releases also opened to strong numbers, with dollar amounts that could push the frame into record-breaking territory. Early estimates show both Percy Jackson & the Olympians and the R-rated Wolfman opening on Friday to approximately $10 million. Fourth place for the day goes to Avatar. Early estimates show the massive grosser earning an additional $5 million for its 9th Friday in release. Rounding out the top five is the romantic drama Dear John which fell over 65 percent from last weekend’s opening day to approximately $4 million. Crushed by Valentine’s Day, Dear John is likely to earn $18 million for the four-day frame. Check back tomorrow for updated figures and have a happy Valentine’s Day.

Post Categories: Valentine's Day

There’s actually not even a whiff of desperation about Valentine’s Day; the film skips along pleasantly, supremely confident in its own cuteness and utterly unapologetic about how shallow or contrived it might be. Whether his films are to your taste or not, Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, The Princess Diaries) has an undeniable gift for mainstream entertainment. His aim here is certainly somewhat self-congratulatory: an outtake that runs over the credits has Roberts, playing a military officer on leave to visit a loved one, quoting one of her most famous lines from Pretty Woman. (See the best movies of the decade.)

But the love goes both ways; nestled among Valentine’s Day’s multifarious plot lines is a love letter to the city and industry that made Marshall powerful enough to rally this kind of cast. He gives us a tour of Los Angeles’ scenic locations, from the canals of Venice to the sandy beaches of Malibu, with a dash of the urban thrown in: the Flower Market, Dodger Stadium and a street sign for No Ho, the cutesy name for the decidedly not cute North Hollywood. The script, by Katherine Fugate (Army Wives), also serves as a tour of the various components of the Hollywood dream factory. The characters include a cutthroat agent (Queen Latifah), an actress/poet (Anne Hathaway) who moonlights as a phone-sex operator and a neurotic publicist (Jessica Biel) whose most important client is a famous quarterback (Eric Dane). The cast runs the generational gamut, from teen pop star Taylor Swift, playing (rather charmingly) a high school dork, to the 75-year-old MacLaine, one of cinema’s reigning grand dames. It’s a small part, but MacLaine gets a romantic scene to cherish, necking with Hector Elizondo while her lovely, fresh young self — in footage from her 1958 film Hot Spell — is projected behind them at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. (More travelogue: the venue really does show old movies outdoors at night.)

The closest thing Valentine’s Day has to a lead is Ashton Kutcher, whom I’d have thought an implausible choice to anchor anything much more than a vehement Twitter response to the impetuous Meraz. But Kutcher is surprisingly endearing as Reed, a sweet florist trying to survive the busiest day of the year while negotiating his own love life with fiancée (Jessica Alba) and the complicated affairs of his best friend Julia (Jennifer Garner). Julia is dating Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey, who plays (what else?) a surgeon. Garner and Kutcher are so alike in looks — warm brown eyes, chiseled features and dimply smiles — that I mistook their characters for siblings. Hathaway and the Robertses — both Julia and her niece Emma, here playing a nanny to a lovesick little boy — could fit into that family as well. Clearly Garry Marshall has a type.

Even with all these characters buzzing about, Valentine’s Day is mainly a movie structured around moments, a few of them genuinely funny or surprising but most of the Hallmark variety. As a result, we never grow particularly attached to any of these people, but we’d like them to at least have a nice day. Yes, that is the most banal sentiment available, but that’s the kind of mood the movie puts you in.

Post Categories: Breaking Dawn

Are you ready to see Edward’s cheekbones and Jacob’s abs in full, glistening three dimensions?

It’s well known that Summit Entertainment has considered extending its “Twilight” juggernaut by splitting Stephenie Meyer’s fourth book, “Breaking Dawn,” into two films. The studio continues to deny — and did so again today — that that decision has yet been made. I’m skeptical, but OK.

There is, however, an even more intriguing piece of the “Dawn” puzzle: its dimensionality. And I’m not talking about the depth of the characters (or whether they’ll even be played by the same actors). The halls of Summit are also alive with the parallel potential of filming the last film — or films — in 3D.

The pluses are obvious. That third dimension has been proven to put more butts in the seats and enhance the experience for all involved. Everyone from Warner Bros. (”Clash of the Titans”) to Screen Gems (”Priest”) to MGM (”Cabin in the Woods”) has been belatedly sending their films to the 3D factory for conversion. Heck, WB’s solid B-movie “Journey to the Center of the Earth” roped in $231 million worldwide two years ago because it had an “in 3D” stamp on the poster. The prospect of Edward, Bella and Jacob swooning on a z-axis may just put the film(s)’ boxoffice in “Avatar” territory.

The downside? The fans. Some are already begging Summit not to do it. But it’s highly unlikely that any will pass up the chance to watch the last few final strains of this teenage vampire-human-wolfman soap opera. Even if they decided to film it with puppets.

Summit apparently has to make a decision on both fronts soon — by the end of the month — to meet production deadlines. Our bet is they decide to go whole hog, or wolf, as it were: two films, in 3D, with much to gain and little to lose.

But what could stop either new approach from happening is the same thing that could derail any other “Twilight” development: Stephenie Meyer. Her contract is chock full of approvals, over casting, director, screenwriter, etc. Presumably, any changes that include splitting the book’s narrative into two scripts or filming one or both in a new format have to be approved by her. (And beyond that, even if she approves a fifth film and 3D, the cast is only signed through four films, which should make for a very intense round of renegotiating.)

We’re not sure what motivation Meyer would have to decline these developments, but the fact that she could must certainly factor into the paw-wringing going on now at Summit.

I don’t think I’d like that movie to be in 3D….that movie has too much involved to do that

Post Categories: Abduction

EXCLUSIVE: The sluggish spec script marketplace will get a jolt today as Hollywood majors battle over a drama that has Hollywood’s highest paid and hardest working teen Taylor Lautner attached to star. I’ve learned the new lit agency Verve sent out the script by its client Shawn Christensen last night — and already two studios are ready to bid when the auction gets going at 9 AM PT today.

Called Abduction, WME client Lautner plays a teen who has long felt disconnected from his parents, and figures out why. That unleashes a chain of violent events and enters Bourne territory. Considering he just got on the Hollywood radar because of the Twilight Saga (imagine, he was almost recast before New Moon) and just days ago blew out the candles on his 18th birthday cake, Lautner with his 8-pack abs is the newest and youngest action star in a dizzying volume of movie deals made over recent weeks.

He’s already the lead in two major studio superhero franchises — Universal’s Stretch Armstrong and Paramount’s Max Steel — and was paid $7.5 million for the John Moore-directed Skydance Top Gun-esque thrill ride Northern Lights. Meanwhile, Abduction is the first big spec deal for Verve, whose principals came up at Endeavor and then recently left WME. Since Lautner is repped by WME (and Management 360), it looks like Ari Emanuel and company are playing nice with the upstart tenpercentery.

While reports on the Web say the final ‘Twilight’ installment will be two movies, the studio is staying mum. It’s something Harry Potter has blazed the trail for, “Twilight” fans have suspected for quite some time and several of the franchise’s stars seem eager about. Now, it seems, the word may finally be official: “Breaking Dawn” will be split into two movies.

The news was reported Thursday (February 11) by Deadline Hollywood, although it should be pointed out that many news outlets have “announced” the same fact over the last few months, all apparently premature.

“No decision has been made,” a representative for Summit Entertainment told MTV News after the Deadline Hollywood story ran. “As we have said all along, we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the big screen.”

“I have this from several sources and it’s definitive,” the Web site insists. ” ‘Breaking Dawn’ is the longest in Stephenie Meyer’s four-book series lengthwise and it’s the most graphic — presenting birth, attempted murder, death and of course vampire bites. … Summit Entertainment no doubt could save money by making these ‘Twilight’ Saga movies #4 and #5 back to back and is currently looking for director or directors to helm both features.”

In the past, Meyer has expressed mild concern — but faith in the studio — over the possible two-movie idea. Back in December, the split was seemingly reported, then became unofficial once again. Meanwhile, series stars like Anna Kendrick, Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz have weighed in with various opinions. Much of the consideration for a split seems to stem from a similar decision made on the final Harry Potter novel, which will soon debut as two films.

What does this all mean for the millions of die-hard Twi-hards who would kill for an additional “Twilight” film to be made out of Meyer’s series? Well, as we’ve often learned in the past, months of reoccurring rumors often become eventual fact. Stay tuned for more on the “Breaking Dawn” saga — including, quite possibly, official news at some point — in the weeks and months to come.

I have this from several sources, and it’s definitive. Filming on the back-to-back movies would begin in mid-October, and Summit Entertainment is looking at “high-end” directors. Breaking Dawn is the longest in Stephenie Meyer’s 4-book series lengthwise and it’s the most graphic — presenting birth, attempted murder, death, and of course vampire bites. Published on August 2, 2008, it has a happy ending for most of the characters. Divided into 3 parts, the 1st and 3rd sections are told from the point of view of Bella (Kristen Stewart), and the second section from the perspective of Jacob (Taylor Lautner). It prominently features all 3 favorite characters including Edward (Robert Pattinson). Summit Entertainment no doubt will save money by making these Twilight Saga movies #4 and #5 back to back. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (who’s written all the Twilight Saga films) is currently adapting Breaking Dawn. Eclipse, the 3rd movie, will be released on June 30th. Meanwhile, Yen Press, the graphic novel imprint of Hachette Book Group, announced last month that it will publish the first volume in the graphic novel adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight on March 16th. Due to the length of the prose novel, the book will be divided into 2 volumes and the release date for the second volume is forthcoming. Containing selected text from Meyer’s original novel with illustrations by Korean artist Young Kim, it’s a fusion of Asian and Western comic techniques in mostly black-and-white with color interspersed throughout. Novelist Meyer consulted throughout the artistic process and had input on every panel.
