Yes, it’s still early days, but Summit is trying to up its pedigree for its big-screen adaptation of the final installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. Sources tell EW that the studio has reached out to at least three top-notch directors, including Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) to gauge their interest in what is likely to be two movies. (Van Sant’s reps confirmed that he’s been approached, but Coppola and Condon’s people didn’t return phone calls by press time. Summit declined to comment.) No decisions are likely to be made until the studio delivers screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg’s detailed outline to the directors. That should happen sometime next week. Until then we can just wonder how these three very diverse directors will approach Bella’s controversial birthing scene. SOURCE: Hollywood Insider |

In the eyes of the Academy Awards, “The Hurt Locker” was the Best Picture of 2009. But a loyal army of Twilighters feel differently — and this week, they’re making their opinions known at one of Hollywood’s most visible annual conventions. “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” has been selected for the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award, which will be presented Thursday at ShoWest’s Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas. The Fan Choice Award was voted on by nearly 50,000 moviegoers, who were asked on Fandango to select their favorite film of 2009.
The sequel to “Twilight” garnered nearly 66 percent of the vote — although “Hurt Locker” shouldn’t feel too bad, as the same studio (Summit Entertainment) showed off its diversity in 2009 by releasing both films. “Moviegoers on Fandango have been behind the franchise from the very beginning, and that’s why the first ‘Twilight’ movie won the Fan Choice Award last year,” Hong added. “The big question will be whether or not ‘Eclipse’ will be in the running for next year’s award, and if the franchise can pull off a three-peat.” “We are thrilled to once again have the opportunity to partner with Fandango to present the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award at this year’s ShoWest Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony,” ShoWest managing director Robert Sunshine said in a statement. “It is no surprise that the fans have chosen the box-office hit ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ as this year’s recipient, and we are excited to present the film with this award.” |

Taylor Lautner had a crush on Jessica Alba “for the longest time”. The 18-year-old actor became a worldwide sex symbol when he showed off his amazing abs in the latest Twilight film New Moon. He is now followed everywhere he goes by a flock of screaming girls, but claims can relate to them because he used to have similar feelings for Jessica. “These fans are pretty intense and passionate,” he said. “I don’t know if I’ve been quite like that for anybody but when I was younger, I liked Jessica Alba for the longest time!” Taylor says his fans manage to find him even when he is visiting the tiniest town in rural America. He admits he has made changes in his life to cope with all the attention, but insists he loves his fans. “We have passionate fans everywhere we go,” he told Top of the Pops magazine. “Even in the smallest town, we have a fan base there. It’s really comforting to know that we have that supports.” “You definitely have to make adjustments and I guess you could say that walking around unnoticed is the one thing you miss the most, but it’s just a matter of choosing the right places to go.” |

No doubt, in the tradition of the Twilight series films, there will be tons of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse content revealed before the film actually makes it to theatres. However, now’s reportedly not the time to get amped up about anything other than the first trailer. According to Gossip Cop, there are no immediate plans to produce another trailer any time soon. “Gossip Cop spoke with a rep for Summit Entertainment who told us there will (of course) be a new trailer at some point, but right now there’s ‘no talk… nothing in the works,’” the site reports. As you already knew, a new editor was brought onto the film just a few days ago, so it’s entirely possible that it’ll take a little bit of time for her to get acclimated to the new material. Chances are, with at least this one trailer in hand, time will fly by until the second trailer is released. SOURCE: Twilight Examiner |

Added photos of Taylor leaving the Cabana Club last night. I believe the Cabana Club is where the afterparty for The Runaways was at: |
