Universal Pictures has hired Rob Letterman to direct and Nicholas Stoller to rewrite Stretch Armstrong, the big screen adaptation of the action figure, to be played by “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner. Hasbro’s action figure was popular around the world beginning in the 1970s and re-launched in the 1990s. Letterman directed 20th Century Fox’s upcoming Gulliver’s Travels, which was co-written by Stoller. Letterman also co-directed Monsters vs. Aliens, while Stoller co-wrote and directed Universal’s Get Him to the Greek. Stoller also directed the studio’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Steve Oedekerk wrote the original screenplay for Stretch Armstrong. Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer is producing with Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir for Hasbro. The Twilight Saga: New Moon is leading the nominations at Britain’s upcoming National Movie Awards – scooping nods for all three of the film’s stars. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner have all received recognition for their roles in the vampire sequel, going up against Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint in the Performance of the Year category. The Twilight follow-up is pitted against Avatar, Alice In Wonderland and Clash of the Titans in the best fantasy film category, while the next installment, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is in contention for the title of Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is nominated in the family film category along with Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang, and Up, while Coco Before Chanel, Paranormal Activity and Harry Brown are among films nominated for breakthrough movie prize. The final trailer from ‘The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse’ will be premiered on April 23, while the new trailer from ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ could be finished by the end of this month. Those who are craving for another sneak peek to “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse” should not miss an upcoming episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. Summit Entertainment has announced that they will drop the final trailer for the third “Twilight” movie during the talk show aired on Friday, April 23. “Next Friday 4/23, watch Oprah for the exclusive debut of the FINAL #EclipseTrailer!” so read the message posted by the studio on their Twitter page. They later added, “And visit our social networks after to chat live with surprise guests from the cast! More details to come…” Moreover, another highly anticipated movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, will likely debut its new trailer soon. Magic Box Music has announced that they are currently working on another sneak peek video for the latest installment of the adventure film franchise. Filmonic suggests that the video is possibly to be completed by the end of this month. “Eclipse” will see Bella Swan who once again finds herself surrounded by danger while she has to choose between her love for Edward Cullen and her friendship with Jacob Black. Directed by David Slade, this vampire drama movie will open wide in theaters across the U.S. on June 30. Meanwhile, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” is split into two movies, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” which is due for November 19 release in both U.S. and U.K. and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II” which is slated to be premiered on July 15, 2011. The story will follow Harry Potter and his two best friends who leave Hogwarts behind and set out to find and destroy the Horcruxes-the secret to Voldemort’s power and immortality. The official soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has been available for pre-order for quite some time now, but the release date for the album has only just been announced. The date of release for the soundtrack will be June 8th, according to Amazon, and a track list for the album is still unavailable. Over the past couple of months, it’s been interesting to see the number of bands and artists vying for a place on the album, but chances are (if things are like they were with New Moon) the artists will be hand-picked and asked to contribute original songs for the album. Shouldn’t be too much longer until we start seeing some contributor names and song titles! |

Kristen Stewart had an 11-month break between finishing the shoot for “Twilight” in April 2008 and beginning “New Moon” last year. Production on “Eclipse” (opening June 30), though, kicked off just seven weeks after the conclusion of “New Moon.” And when KStew returned to slip back into the character of Bella Swan, she found the vampire-loving teen had a new sense of purpose. It was that resolve, Stewart reveals in Entertainment Weekly’s summer movie preview issue, that made the character much easier to play. “I wasn’t as tortured as I was on ‘New Moon.’ Bella really knows what she wants in ‘Eclipse.’ She’s not just a dumb kid talking because she’s in love.” That’s not to suggest that playing a more-focused Bella was a breeze. Though the teen matures over the course of the story, graduating from high school and getting engaged to Robert Pattinson’s Edward, at one point she is pulled back into the romantic embrace of Taylor Lautner’s werewolf Jacob. That scene was difficult, both because Stewart sees Lautner as something of a younger brother and because she understands that Bella truly loves Edward. “It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella. I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ ” she said. “It was a really strange experience — as it should have been.” And then there’s an experience that fans have been looking forward to for years — one not strange at all but rather a long time coming: Edward and Bella’s engagement. Producer Wyck Godfrey said the scene will more than fulfill expectations. “She walks into Edward’s room, and there’s a beautiful four-poster bed, and it’s like, ‘Wow, here we go!’ ” SOURCE: MTV Movies |

No, Twi-fans, we are not talking about Lautner leaving Twilight or anything to do with our favorite vampire-movie franchise. Instead, a well-placed source confirms The Last Song star and real-life Miley Cyrus boyfriend has been offered a role Lautner was originally supposed to play… Lautner, 18, was to be paid $7.5 million to costar in David Ellison’s Northern Lights, but he dropped out shortly after snagging the role, according to industry blog Deadline Hollywood. Fast-forward to today. Hemsworth, 20, is now in the running for the job. (We love us some Liam, but we doubt he’ll be getting as big a paycheck as Lautner.) “The offer is true, but who knows if he’ll do it,” a source close to Hemsworth tells me. The movie is about four extreme-flying pilots. It was reportedly supposed to start shooting on April 1. Hemsworth is about to take off for a European tour to promote The Last Song. Taylor Lautner, who usually pines for Kristen Stewart in the Twilight Saga films, has a new romantic screen interest. Lily Collins has landed the job playing Lautner’s love interest in Abduction, the Lionsgate thriller that starts production in 12 weeks on location in Pittsburgh. Collins, daughter of the singer Phil Collins, made her movie debut playing the daughter of Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) in The Blind Side. In Abduction, Collins will play the girlfriend of a young man who discovers the parents that raised him aren’t his. When he reaches out to the real ones, he and his girlfriend are forced to run for their lives. She just wrapped Priest with Paul Bettany.
