This morning, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade seemed to be having a good Twitter laugh about yesterday’s rumor-based uproar.

Slade tweeted about the fact that he is in London, England today working on the Eclipse score with composer Howard Shore.

In London overseeing the film score with Mr Howard Shore and enjoying all the gossip flying around. Onwards to the Eclipse!!

In case you missed the story, here’s what happened in a nutshell.

A Vancouver-based gossip blogger reported that re-shoots were about to take place but that there was some controversy over who would direct the re-shoots. Then, Summit issued a statement to Gossip Cop saying that there were going to be re-shoots, that they are common and were planned all along, and that there was never any question of Slade finishing out the film on his own.

It seems that Slade has found this bit of back-and-forth a bit funny.

At any rate, it’s good to hear where they’re at with the score! As you’ve probably heard before, Howard Shore is an Oscar-winning composer who’s worked on films like the Lord of the Rings trilogy and any number of recognizable titles. With Howard Shore, the score should be just beautiful.

For Kristen Stewart, who reprises her role as Bella in Twilight: Eclipse, locking lips with costar Taylor Lautner (who plays her pal Jacob) felt odd—not just because she thinks of Lautner as a kid brother, but because Bella’s heart truly belongs to vampire hottie Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). “It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella,” says Stewart. “I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ It was a really strange experience—as it should have been.”

Rumors and gossip have followed the “Twilight Saga” ever since the first film created an uproar at the box office a year and a half ago. From the personal relationship between the stars to who will direct which sequel, it’s been a non-stop job for Summit Entertainment to put out one fire after another. That continued today.

This morning Canadian gossip site Lainey Gossip reported that reshoots of two key scenes for the forthcoming “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” were occurring in Vancouver next week. The pundit also floated that because of “creative differences” with the studio director David Slade wouldn’t oversee the reshoots and that former helmers Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight”) and Chris Weitz (“New Moon”) could step in instead. Because the outlet is based in the city and has been correct on a number stories regarding the franchise before, many media took the report with a hint of credibility which was a mistake.

HitFix has learned that Slade, who is currently overseeing the film’s score in London, would be headed to Vancouver himself to film what are obvstentively pick up shots, not reshot scenes. Pick up shots are cut into already completed scenes and can be necessary because of anything from bad lighting, a faulty print or a missing expression or line that was determined in editing. Reshoots insinuate a completely new scene being inserted into a picture.

Additionally, a Summit spokesperson told HitFix that the shoot has been planned for months, the picture is not in “trouble” and, in fact, the studio thinks it may be the best of the three so far. Considering, this writer has heard praise for “Eclipse’s” script, that’s easy to believe. The spokesperson also noted that reshoot timing is three days or less, is not a lot of material and furthermore, they do not involve the meadow scene or any action scenes whatsoever.

Fans will be able to decide their opinion on Slade’s vision for “Eclipse” when the film opens nationwide on June 30.

Taylor Lautner had a great 2009. But it’s only the beginning of what looks to be a very lucrative acting career. Even though he hasn’t seen the kind of success that Twilight co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have, he’s bringing up the rear very nicely.

Part of the reason is because Taylor’s Jacob Black character is the Anti-Robert Pattinson / Edward Cullen foil that gives Twi-Hards an alternative to pale faced sensitivity. Jacob is an ass-kicking werewolf who’s also battling for Bella Swan’s heart. The love triangle is proving to be irresistible and Taylor’s salary increase reflects that… he made a measly million bucks for his first turn in the series and he’s worked that up to 5 million for the upcoming Twilight: Eclipse. That’s just 2.5 million off the top salaries pulled down by the main stars.

So it looks like Taylor Lautner has a lot to look forward to while movie makers flood his mailbox with new scripts that will help the 18 year old leave this character behind and explore the action movie star that he should become.

Here are the numbers, Taylor Lautner’s Net Worth as of March 2010:

$10 Million
$1 Million for Twilight
$4 Million for Twilight: New Moon
$5 Million for Twilight: Eclipse

Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final piece to the Twilight book series by Stephenie Meyer will get its chance to dazzle us on the big screen.

Talk of the stars’ contracts, potential directors, the film being split into two a la Harry Potter, and how the heck you shoot the “birthing scene” is setting the internet ablaze.

Here’s what we know so far…

Confirmed

* Although Gus Van Sant and Sofia Coppola were considered for the gig, director Bill Condon (with films as varied as Gods and Monsters, Kinsey and Dreamgirls on his resume) is the #1 choice to helm the final two Twilight films. (Deadline)
* The Reader director Stephen Daldry had been thrown into the candidate list as well, perhaps because every film he’s directed has earned him a Best Director nomination at the Academy Awards. (LA Times)
* Twilight: Breaking Dawn will indeed be two seperate movies and will be filmed back-to-back. (Deadline)
* Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner have all signed on for the final installment. (LA Times)

Rumored

* Robert Pattinson is looking to outbulk Taylor Lautner for new film. (Reel Empire)
* Twilight: Breaking Dawn may be 3-D, despite Kristen Stewart’s wishes. (MTV)

Debunked

* The alleged Stephenie Meyer/Summit Entertainment drama about the film being split into two parts is false. A post on her blog states: Just a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I’ve said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I’m all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I’ve spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We’re all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip gets fabricated to stir things up, but there’s no basis to this particular story. (StephenieMeyer.com)

* The film will not be rated-R, despite fan petitions. When asked if the film was aiming for PG-13 screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg answered: “Oh yeah, absolutely. That’s your audience. In this series you don’t sacrifice anything. There are some movies that wouldn’t play at PG-13, like The Hangover, but this is just not one of them for me. Again, if you’re capturing character, emotion, and emotional journey, you’re OK.” (Film.com)

2. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse — Though it’s not in the top spot, Eclipse – and its positioning in theaters right before the July 4th weekend – should easily take the number two spot in box office totals this summer. Its predecessor killed at the box office, taking home all sorts of records, so we’ll look for Eclipse to do the sort of thing. Considering each Twilight film does better than the one before it, Eclipse could do even more business than we’re anticipating.

A report widely disseminated earlier today made big waves by claiming that “key scenes” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse need to be reshot in Vancouver, and speculated that the development indicated production on the June release was troubled.

Gossip Cop looked into it, and we have the exclusive answers.

First, regarding the implication that these reshoots were unexpected, an authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “The reshoot was planned for months, like it is with the majority of films.”

Let Gossip Cop settle some other false rumors.

Contrary to today’s inaccurate speculation, “creative differences” have not led Summit to consider bringing in another director for the reshoots.

David Slade is 100% directing them, like he did the entire movie, and the studio is “very happy” with his direction of the film, which internally is believed to be the best of the series.

As for the timing, speculation that there will be three rushed days of 18-hour shoots is incorrect. The Summit rep tells Gossip Cop that it’s a two-and-a-half to three-day shoot, and that “very little” actually has to be reshot.

But the biggest misconception concerned the specific scenes alleged to be those in need of a reshoot. The rep confirms to Gossip Cop, “None of the meadow or action scenes are being reshot.”

Asked to comment on today’s alarmist rumors, the authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “Reports much like the one earlier today are ploys to drive traffic without any merit and without any support from the studio on what is actually going on or true.”

Gossip Cop will continue to bring accurate “Eclipse” production news before the film’s June theatrical release.

Post Categories: Northern Lights

After wrapping “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse”, Taylor Lautner is expected to kick off the principal photography of “Northern Lights (2010)” in early June, so Before the Trailer reported. To support the shooting of the film which will be another starring vehicle for the 18-year-old star, a production office has been opened in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

In the same month, Lautner will be likely busy promoting “Eclipse” which is set to be unleashed in the U.S. on June 30. It is not known whether the actor will join the production as soon as it begins or he will come to the set later when he has completed the promotional duty for the third installment of “Twilight” film series.

Set against the backdrop of extreme flying, “Northern Lights” tells a story of four young pilots who compete against the world’s best. Tom Cruise was rumored to join the project, but in the end the actor is not among the cast members.

Beside Lautner, Paramount Pictures has not announced who will play other major characters as the other pilots. John Moore, the man behind “Max Payne”, is slated to direct the action adventure movie, which is penned by Chuck Russell, David Ellison as well as Duane Adler.

Post Categories: New MoonTwilight

The Twilight Saga: New Moon might not have been the biggest in overall domestic or worldwide intake for 2009, despite the best efforts of Twilight fans to make it so, but it still holds the top title for quite a few posts.

As you already know, New Moon secured the top spot for midnight ticket sales and opening day numbers on November 20th, 2009, bringing in well over seventy million dollars within twenty-four hours.

According to Box Office Mojo’s latest New Moon report, the film “still holds the record[s]” for those showings.

“It also stands as the biggest teen romance and vampire movie on record, eclipsing the first Twilight for the title,” Box Office Mojo’s Brandon Gray reports.

Oddly enough, and you’ve probably heard this before, New Moon takes the cake for “being the most front-loaded blockbuster ever, making 48 percent of its total gross on its first weekend alone.”

Interesting, eh?

Any theories on why New Moon was so “front-loaded” in numbers?

BOM goes on to report that internationally, New Moon did very well as compared to last year’s Twilight.

“The greatest growth for New Moon,” BOM reports, “came on the foreign front. It has pulled in $413.1 million thus far, more than doubling what Twilight made. That puts its worldwide total at $710 million versus Twilight’s $385 million.”

With The Twilight Saga: New Moon’s release to DVD, Comcast readied itself by making the movie (and director commentary) available to users on demand at midnight on the film’s release date.

For the June theatrical release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, though, it seems the company is taking its marketing a step further by making a series dedicated to the Twilight cast.

According to Television Business International, the company “is shopping its content-making skills to international broadcasters for the first time in an effort to better use the resources of its two US-based production units” and already “produce[s] 1100 hours of programming a year.”

Comcast “is currently making a 4x30mins series following the main actors in the Twilight movie franchise, which will be turned around for early June to coincide with the launch of the new Twilight movie,” the site reports.

A four part series on the Twilight cast? Yes, please. Just don’t bore us with gossip and false rumors and we’re good to go!
