Entertainment Weekly sat down with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner for a feature interview running in this week’s magazine to discuss the world they inhabit within the Twilight universe — both on screen and off. The three young stars opened up about coping under the glare of intense media spotlight, how they rely on one another to pull through, what they think of the upcoming final movie, Breaking Dawn, what lies ahead once the franchise wraps, and much more. In this preview, the three stars talk about gearing up for the final chapter of the saga that has changed each of their lives forever.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You guys are about to start shooting the two Breaking Dawn movies back to back. You signed on to this franchise before Breaking Dawn was written. When you read it, were you thinking, How is this going to be turned into a movie?
KRISTEN STEWART: Yeah, definitely. What is Renesmee going to look like? Is it going to be this little teeth-baby running around? It’s going to be weird.
ROBERT PATTINSON: [Laughs] “Little teeth-baby.”
STEWART: Yeah, but I think it’s going to be cool. One of the main objectives of the series is to get Bella to a point where she’s mature enough to make such a hefty decision, and she goes through a lot. In the fourth one, she is going to become a wife. She is going to become a mom. She is going to become an adult and a vampire. To do it so young, it needs to be believable. So I’m really excited about playing that.

Some people read Breaking Dawn as very pro-life and Mormon because Bella decides to have her baby even though it’s endangering her life. Did any of that bother you when you read the book?
STEWART: No, because it made sense. Not wanting to give up the baby is about her holding onto that last thing that she would have to give up if she was not human anymore. Right after she and Edward sleep with each other for the first time, she says, “Oh, f***, I might want to be human for a little bit longer.” The baby is just an even more intense version of that.
PATTINSON: I think people make up all these Mormon references just so they can publish Twilight articles in respectable publications like the New York Times. Even Stephenie [Meyer, author of the Twilight novels] said it doesn’t mean any of that. It is based on a dream.

The Breaking Dawn movies are the last in the series. How do you feel about all of this coming to a conclusion soon?
STEWART: In terms of shooting them, they’re almost done. We’re going to be done by March.
TAYLOR LAUTNER: It will be so weird, the last day of filming that last movie.
STEWART: It will be sad, too. It’s been one of the most crazy, indulgent experiences as an actor, to be able to follow a character for this long.
LAUTNER: I think stopping will be very weird.
STEWART: It will just feel like a chapter has been closed.
LAUTNER: A big chapter.
STEWART: I’m going to be like, “But wait, there’s this scene…”

Lily Collins is pretty sure Taylor Lautner, her co-star in “Abduction,” will doff his shirt at some point in the film — “which everyone would totally hate, right?” she joked recently with MTV News.

When it comes to the onscreen removal of shirts and the baring of abdominal muscles, of course, Lautner is well-practiced. His “Eclipse” character seems almost allergic to covering his torso, so often does the teen werewolf appear shirtless. For other facets of “Abduction,” though, Lautner has needed some practice. That’s why he’s been hard at work for months in preparation for the summer shoot.

“I’ve been training,” he told MTV News. “I did boxing training for a couple months. Now I’m into the fight training, motorcycle, I think when I get to Pittsburgh, do a little swimming training. It’s all around. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

In the Jason Bourne-style thriller, Lautner stars as a teen who stumbles upon his baby picture on a missing-persons website. As he reaches out to his birth parents, Lautner finds himself caught up in a world of underground spies and death-defying stunts. Joining him and Collins are Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs and Maria Bello.

“Abduction” is just one film in a growing lineup of action-centric roles for Lautner. The 18-year-old has the stunt-heavy “Eclipse” arriving in June, and he has plans for a superhero turn in “Stretch Armstrong” and a stylized thriller in “Cancun.”

“I love action, but most important is the story,” Lautner said. “And the story behind this action thriller ['Abduction'] is amazing. We got [director] John Singleton behind us. … I’m so thankful we’re getting a cast like that.”

“She’s like 110 lbs? It’s no big deal,” Taylor originally said of holding Kristen. But he changed his tune after toting her around for a full day of shooting Eclipse.

You’d think 20-year-old Eclipse star Kristen Stewart, at 5′6″and about 110 lbs, would be as light as a feather for co-star Taylor Lautner, 18, to carry around — but you’d be wrong. Even with his karate training and new muscles, “it was hard … it was painful,” Taylor confessed to MTV!

“There’s a scene where I’m carrying her, and it’s also, like, four pages of dialogue,” Taylor explained. “We filmed that scene ALL day long — did the wide shot, did my close-up, did her close-up, the back shot, everything!”

“We actually had plans, a rig that was basically going to carry her, and I was just going to pretend that I was carrying her,” Taylor continued. “we got there on the day, and the rig didn’t look very natural. They were like, ‘What are we going to do?’ and I’m like, ‘I’ll just carry her. She’s like, what, 110 pounds? It’s no big deal!’ Boy was he wrong.

But, that’s not the only situation Taylor was bracing himself for. He also wanted K-Stew to punch him! “I wanted her just to give me a shot, let her punch me once, and we’ll be done,” he said. “Of course, we couldn’t do that, so it was some major technical thing where I had to stand there and pretend I’m getting punched and then … we had to have her fist punching a bag. It was very technical.”

Post Categories: Stretch Armstrong 3D

Sad news for Taylor Lautner fans. He’s keeping his shirt on for his next movie. The superhero Stretch Armstrong would have every reason to ditch the shirt and flex his muscles. The original stretchy toy was even shirtless. Lautner said that’s one of the things they’re changing for the modern version.

“You know, they’re doing all of the designing and all that stuff right now,” Lautner said. “They’re writing the script and everything so I haven’t seen any finalized version, but chances are it might be a little different from the doll.”

Oh well, at least we have the New Moon DVD and Eclipse coming out in theaters. Then Lautner will be back for Breaking Dawn, so Stretch can be the one where he doesn’t flex.

“They’re not finished with the script yet. I think they should be shortly so hopefully we’ll know soon. The cool thing about the toy is that there is no story. Like with a superhero you have to stay along these lines, but with a toy you get to create everything which is super exciting and creative.”

Before Stretch, Lautner will film Abduction, a real world kidnapping thriller. “Abduction really has an interesting story. It’s about a high school senior who finds a picture of himself on a missing persons’ web site only to realize that his whole life for 18 years has been a lie.”

We’ll see if Abduction will find Lautner peeling off his shirt after a sweaty chase, but it will have to be integral to the plot. “I mean, it can’t be nonsense action. The action has to make sense and that’s with the story behind it. I’m super excited to get going on that. I start in three weeks.”

Post Categories: EclipseFan Meetings

June 21, 2010 — At 6am this morning, the Twilight Eclipse premiere craze began. At this time, the area of the Nokia Plaza LA Live opened up to the fans who want to be there first. Yes, the premiere is on the 24th, but the earlier the arrival the better place to see Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

So in hopes to keep order and be fair, the Eclipse Premiere announced rules yesterday on their website to keep it all balanced. As the gates open the people will receive wristbands for their place in the fan viewing areas – unfortunately they won’t be able to see the movie or go to the after parties. Once they have the wristband the fans can choose to camp out or come back on the 24th. If the fans decide to stay (and many will because that will ensure the best spot) then a few rules are set to make sure all is safe until the day of the premiere. Here’s what is included on the website for the premiere rules:

PARTIAL LIST OF RULES AND CODE OF CONDUCT:

* ONLY Standard Sized Pop Tents will be allowed (no oversized tents, staked tents, etc due to limited space)

* 4×4 (16 sq. ft.) or less. No oversized tents, staked tents, etc due to limited space

* ABSOLUTELY No Drugs or Alcohol allowed on premises

* No Cooking On-Site or open flame

* No amplified music. All music devices must be used with headset or earphone

* Smoking in Designated Areas Only outside of the NOKIA Plaza boundaries

* Fans are responsible for their own property. LA LIVE, AEG, nor Summit is responsible for any lost or stolen items

* Everyone must please pick up after themselves. A fine will be enforced for anyone who litters on NOKIA Plaza or LA City property

* Please only use the restrooms designated for fans and respect the other area businesses

* Guests must follow the rules and directions of L.A. LIVE Management/Summit Security at all times

Obviously the above list is very fair to all concerned. The fans will have to move on Wednesday so the crews can come in and set up the red carpet, but that shouldn’t take too long at all.

Taylor Lautner is something else, right? He was little more than a bit player in the first “Twilight” movie. Then there were rumors that he wasn’t even going to be invited back for “New Moon.” Now, the Shirtless One is a celebrity on par with his co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. What’s more, he’s kind of keeping busier than either of them. Lautner has a ton of stuff coming up, as he was more than happy to discuss with MTV’s Josh Horowitz at the recent press junket.

“‘Abduction’ [shoots] in three weeks,” he said, though it’s now more like one week. “So ‘Abduction,’ ‘Breaking Dawn’ and hopefully ['Stretch Armstrong'] after that.” To think that also was attached, as recently as a few months ago, to another pair of action flicks: “Max Steel” and “Cancun.” The former is done, but Lautner admits that “Cancun” is still a possibility.

“Maybe down the road,” he said. “It’s so hard already having to look a year in advance with ‘Stretch.’ You got to stay focused on what you’re doing in the moment.”

And what is the actor focused on in the moment? “Eclipse” of course. The third movie in the “Twilight” series hits theaters next Wednesday. All of which gets Lautner thinking about the upcoming back-to-back shoots for the two-part adaptation of “Breaking Dawn,” which will close out the actor’s time as werewolf Jacob Black.

“It’s sad. I try not to even think about that,” he said of saying goodbye to the franchise that has been so good to him. “It’ll be a sad day when that finishes. The last day on the second ‘Breaking Dawn’ will be a tough one for sure.”

It’s understandable. Lautner was acting prior to “Twilight” of course, but he was really able to ride his experience with the franchise through the difficult child actor years and into the new, adult phase of his career. So Josh asked him what mementos he might keep from the set, to commemorate a job well done. The problem for Lautner is, he spends most of his time on screen half-naked.

“What wardrobe am I going to keep,” he asked incredulously. “The little jean shorts?” He thinks for a moment, forming a plan. “I should. I should snag a pair. I’ll do that. I will definitely grab a pair of little jean shorts to keep.”

Jumping forward to Breaking Dawn, where are you in the scripting stage now?

Deep in the center. Kind of right in the first draft mode, dead center in the middle I’d say. Of both [parts]. I’m kind of writing them simultaneously — writing both outlines and then writing both first drafts because we’re shooting them together. [The producers] need things to prep off of, because they have to find locations, so in some ways I’ve been treating it as one film, but on two different pieces of paper. It’s a huge challenge. It’s a lot of pages!

Where exactly do you envision splitting Breaking Dawn into two parts?

We’re still talking about specifically where, but I think there’s kind of a natural break. You have the first half about Bella being human and a newlywed and pregnant, and the second half is about her being a vampire and a parent. I think somewhere in that transition is where it breaks. We’ve tried a couple of things and I think we’re settling on one, [but] we’re not sure.

You and I spoke before about how you stay true to the gory events of Breaking Dawn without going beyond a PG-13 rating. Is that any more of an issue, now that you’re writing it?

You know, I just don’t find that to be a challenge at all, honestly. I worked on Dexter, and I’ve said that pint for pint, there’s more blood on CSI than there is on Dexter, and yet Dexter is far more disturbing. So I think it’s not about how much gore you see on screen, it’s more about, are you conveying the terror of the scene, the physical pain of the scene? The tension of the scene? I don’t think you need to see gore to know what’s going on, and in some ways I think that’s actually more interesting. And I think that’s true for sex as well. I think the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever seen are more suggestive than they are graphic. So I don’t have an issue with it; I think we can do absolutely everything without having to see specific things.

Just so you know, certain fans of age would like to see lots of pillow-biting and feathers…

[Laughs] Okay! I think they may see some feathers. They may, indeed, see a few feathers.

Taylor Lautner has admitted that no matter where he is in the world, he never misses an episode of American Idol.

The 18 year old actor, who shot to fame as Jacob Black in the Twilight movie franchise, might be filming or taking part in a promotional tour, but he has admitted that he always finds time to watch his favourite TV programme.

Speaking to Teen Hollywood, Taylor said: “American Idol, definitely. So You Think You Can Dance as well, but American Idol would definitely be number one for me. I haven’t missed an episode in eight or nine years.

“I can’t believe I just said that. I can’t sing, and that’s the funny thing. Maybe that’s why I like watching it so much. I know there’s no way I can do that.”

A new video for Twilight Eclipse has been released and its shows part of the tent scene with Robert Pattinson (Edward), Taylor Lautner (Jacob) and Kristen Stewart (Bella). The better part of the video though is the interview with the stars on the scene. As is pretty well known by now, Jacob and Edward hate each other and compete for Bella’s attention. But in real life they actually really liked each other. They’ve become good friends. So any scene where they have to actively and very visibly hate each other is now difficult for the two young actors. And this scene was definitely no exception.

Taylor describes how difficult it really was in the interview. He says that during many shots the two couldn’t take each other seriously and would burst out laughing, slapping high fives with one another. I think that’s a pretty fun work environment if you ask me.

Enjoy the video!

Returning star Taylor Lautner says that Eclipse is darker:

“I think this film is definitely going to be darker. We’re at war and Victoria’s looking for revenge. We got werewolves and vampires fully involved now. There’s not a better choice out there than David Slade for that.”

“Eclipse was my favorite book and audiences are going to love the film because you still got the romance element at its strongest — we got Bella, Edward and Jacob. But we’re also at war, so the action level is through the roof. David Slade’s bringing a darker cool tone to it. This just might be my favorite… so far.”
