Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner has revealed the key figure who gave him his break in Hollywood – the blue Power Ranger. The 18-year-old actor said he initially had no plans to act – let alone become such a young superstar with the Twilight movies.

‘I was doing martial arts and my karate instructor was in the business and he’s the one who got me started,’ he revealed. Laughing, he added: ‘He was actually the Blue Power Ranger for a year.’

Taylor revealed the anecdote when he appeared on US TV’s The Late Show With David Letterman. The star, who admitted he often gets compared to Matt Damon, showed his shy side as he blushed his way through an interview with David Letterman.

Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob, had rosy cheeks and bright red ears even though Letterman gave him an easy ride without his usual acerbic wit. Instead, he mostly spoke of the amazing response from Twihard fans, recalling a four-year-old boy crying when he saw him – a response he often gets in Japan, too.

In Brazil he said they had to call the Brazilian National Guard after 2000 fans stormed their hotel.
