It may not be huge news that the “Twilight” movies are popular with teenagers, but it has to be mentioned when “Eclipse” notches up 17 nominations for the 2010 Teen Choice Awards.

Airing 8 p.m. August 9 on Fox, “Twilight” is almost predestined to dominate the show, particularly star Taylor Lautner, who accounts for 11 of the movie’s 17 nominations.

Interestingly, “Twilight” nominations are being bestowed for “Eclipse” and “New Moon,” which were both released within the last 12 months. Rachelle Lefevre is nominated as “Best Villain” for her role in “New Moon,” while Dallas Bryce Howard sees no accolade for her performance as the same character in “Eclipse.”

Nominations for Lautner include in the categories of “Red Carpet Fashion Icon,” “Male Hottie,” actor in a fantasy movie and “Liplock,” with Taylor Swift in “Valentine’s Day,” among others. In the latter three, he is up against “Twilight” costar Robert Pattinson.
