In your face, Hugh Jackman and all you other Taylor Lautner haters! Turns out, despite all your cynicism, Taylor was actually approached to be in “X-Men: First Class,” but couldn’t do it because of “Abduction” and “Breaking Dawn” commitments. Producer (and ex-director) Bryan Singer shared the news, and we couldn’t help but feel like we won something this round.

But while Taylor as Wolverine would have been pretty sweet, we feel like he’s just being repeatedly typecast as guy-who-should-have-shirt-off. Here are some other genres we think Taylor should delve into, so we can end up laughing at more haters who have to bite their tongues.

A Surrealist Thriller

Oh hey, big surprise, “Inception” was a box office success and abso-freakin’-awesome. What is that sound you hear rumbling across the continent from Hollywood? The sound of thousands of writers’ pens scratching away while studio executives order them to duplicate its success. We’re betting there is going to be huge influx of surrealist action thrillers being greenlit soon, so Taylor should jump on the bandwagon and show that he is more than just great abs.

A Romantic Comedy

“Valentine’s Day” sort of counts, but since each actor in that film only had about two minutes on screen, we think it’s fair that Taylor gets his chance at carrying his own rom-com. Maybe he’ll even get another girlfriend out of it, though this time we hope she has better acting chops than Taylor Swift.

A Controversial Drama

No, we don’t mean that imprinting scene in “Breaking Dawn,” but an actual controversial drama. Put Taylor outside of his comfort zone in a role that “Twilight” fans will rebel against but embrace (Kristen Stewart in “Welcome to the Rileys,” for example) and will give critics a reason to embrace Taylor as being worth watching.
