The Taylors Do Mexico: It appears 2010 will be the year of “Sprung Exes Who Need To Buy A Clue…..”

Taylor Lautner is lobbying to have former girlfriend Taylor Swift cast in his upcoming hostage thriller, Cancun, despite the recent revelation that the country cutie kicked Boy Taylor to the curb after just two months of dating.

The Taylors met on the set of the upcoming romantic comedy Valentine’s Day and Taylor L’s hoping a few months of shooting in the Mexican sun will revive the young lovers’ extinguished flame.

A Star Magazine spy says: “She tours a lot for her music, but he’s hoping she’ll do more movies so they can stay closer. He’s very serious about her and wants it to work out.”

Summit Entertainment and producers Temple Hill are crafting an action vehicle for their “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner that shapes up as the first film after his breakthrough in “New Moon.”

Summit has acquired an untitled script by Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson that is best described as a teenaged “Taken” meets “Die Hard.”

Dan Lautner will produce with Temple Hill partners Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen.

Dan Lautner is the actor’s father, and the action project becomes the first project in Tailor Made Entertainment, a company they’ve formed to develop film and TV vehicles.

After an injury sidelines a teen’s plans to be an elite soldier, he tries to get on with his life by heading to college. There he meets a girl who convinces him to join her friends on a spring-break trip to Cancun. When his traveling partners are kidnapped and ransomed for the freedom of a drug-cartel leader about to be extradited, the college student uses his warrior skills to rescue them.

Godfrey said the project grew out of Lautner’s enthusiasm for “Taken” — which he saw during the filming of “New Moon” — and his desire to do a movie in the genre. The Champnella/Thompson script offered the

opportunity for the former karate champ to use the brawn and physical skills he displayed during his recent hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live.”

We wanted to continue working with Taylor and feel he’s got the chops to become a big action star,” Godfrey said.

Lautner recently became attached to “Max Steel” at Paramount.

Godfrey said the hope is to get the Cancun-set project into production by June. Lautner will reprise his role of Jacob in “Breaking Dawn” beginning in late 2010, and it is likely that the final book will be divided into two films that will shoot back-to-back.

Summit Entertainment has picked up the action script Cancun by Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson. Taylor Lautner (“The Twilight Saga”) is attached to star in the project.

The Hollywood Reporter says Taylor’s dad, Dan Lautner, is in discussion to produce the movie with Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen.

The story follows an out-of-place college kid who travels with a girl to Cancun on a break. While there, the girl and her friends are taken hostage by a drug cartel and he is forced to save them.

The trade adds that the project is designed to take advantage of Lautner’s martial arts skills.

Oh, look… Taylor Lautner’s in demand again. What a shocker. Yes, while Twilight’s shirt-eschewing were-hunk was the focus of speculation that Paramount was considering him as Max Steel, he’s also being courted by Summit Entertainment, which understandably wants to keep using one of the elements that made New Moon such a big success.

The company has nabbed action spec script Cancun, written by Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson, with plans to make it into a starring vehicle for Lautner.

And the story? A college lad heads to the Mexican holiday hotspot with a girl, who promptly gets herself kidnapped by a drug cartel. So careless, some ladies. Lautner’s character is forced to break out some action chops and utilize his fancy martial arts skills (which the actor was only to happy to show off on Saturday Night Live this past weekend) to rescue her.

There’s no word on exactly when it’ll shoot, but we bet Summit will strike will the Lautner is hot (and when he’s got some time between shooting Breaking Dawn and fielding other offers).

The decision-makers at Summit Entertainment know a good thing when they see one. By good thing, I mean Taylor Lautner. By Taylor Lautner, I mean shirtless Taylor Lautner fighting bad guys and stuff.

That’s the method to Summit’s madness as the movie studio is developing a new action film for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” star Lautner titled “Cancun” based on a spec script from Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson. Lautner is developing the film alongside his father Dan Lautner.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Cancun” focuses on “an out-of-place college kid who travels with a girl to Cancun on a break. While there, the girl and her friends are taken hostage by a drug cartel and he is forced to save them.”

There is currently no word on whether or not the young actor will turn into a werewolf in the film, but my mind is telling me no — even though my body is telling me yes.

Summit is developing “Cancun” as a way to show off Lautner’s martial arts skills, which the “New Moon” star has plenty of, as demonstrated by his recent hosting gig on Saturday Night Live. Still, “Cancun” isn’t likely to be a hard-edged, R-rated action film. Given the tropical setting and Lautner’s current fan base, it’s a safer bet that “Cancun” will be a lighter fight flick, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing by any account.

It’s unknown whether or not “Max Steel,” Taylor’s recently announced project, will be affected by the news of “Cancun.” Stay tuned for more on that, Lautner lovers!

Taylor Lautner may be used to white Christmases of the past, but he’ll soon be basking in the sun once again.

Summit Entertainment is teaming back up the 17-year-old New Moon star and heading to Cancun, THR reports.

Cancun is the first project for Taylor and dad Dan Lautner’s new production company.

The story follows an out-of-place college kid who travels with a girl to Cancun on a break. While there, the girl and her friends are taken hostage by a drug cartel and he is forced to save them. The story is designed to take advantage of Taylor’s martial arts skills.
