The couple began dating about a year ago while filming Abduction, which is now in theaters.

Neither side is commenting on the breakup, though it appears the relationship between the two young stars had simply run its course.

According to a report from Hollywood Life, Gus Van Sant–director of the new film Restless and also of the 2008 award-winning film Milk–is well aware that he’s been seen all around Hollywood with the Twilight star, and he’s willing to dish on why.

“There’s a film that he wanted to put together, but I’m not working on it … yet. It’s possible I may work on it,” Van Sant says of Taylor Lautner and his film idea.

Van Sant did take the opportunity to plug Restless while chatting about Taylor Lautner. And who can blame him? The subject of Lautner ensures a positively attentive audience, you know.

“I hope [filmgoers] get into the love story,” Gus says of Restless. “And they feel like they want to fall in love.”

So now back to Taylor Lautner. He’s already starring in Abduction, and will be once again thrust into the limelight as Jacob Black when Breaking Dawn Part 1, the latest in the Twilight films which premieres in November. Exactly what kind of film idea has he been pitching to Gus Van Sant?

Unfortunately Gus stayed mum on the specifics, however film buffs can only imagine the caliber of a movie starring Taylor Lautner and directed by Gus Van Sant. It seems film buffs and Lautner fans have only one thing they can do in their efforts to find out.

They can wait–at least until a bit more info is leaked! (Not what you wanted to hear, for sure–but it’s really the only option for right now!)

How do we know? Sure, rumors have been swirling for months, but now their costar Denzel Whitaker has actually gone on the record about it.

Here’s what he told us…

“It’s kind of like that teenage love in high school,” Whitaker said at last night’s Hollywood premiere of his latest flick, Warrior (more on that later!). “It was kind of like, ‘Let’s go on a date.’ They were willing to go bowling. It wasn’t all about the relationship, it was more about having fun with each other and I think any time that’s the premise of your couple, it’s going to go great.”

Whitaker says he saw the sparks flying at the very first table read. “I think the chemistry’s naturally going to show [in the movie]…It was off set so it definitely came on set,” he said.

As for that steamy scene, Whitaker said it takes place in a train. “I think all the fans of both parties are really going to love that,” he said. Yeah, especially since Whitaker also told E! News, “There are a few scenes without [Lautner's] shirt on.”

One thing Whitaker couldn’t tell us was if Lautner and Collins are still an item. Lautner’s rep did not immediately comment. A rep for Collins said she does not ocmment on her clients’ private lives.

According to Twitch, Relativity Media which develop the project have offered the role of the brave young shepherd to the Jacob Black of the “Twilight Saga”. It is not a big surprise considering that “Twilight” producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are also producing this epic project. As for “Faster” actor Johnson, he is reportedly in talks with the studio to play the massive Philistine warrior.

“Goliath” is set in motion when the fierce warrior Goliath is sent to track down a foretold king of the Israelites. David is thrust into an epic chase and adventure fighting for his own life, the lives of his loved ones and eventually the lives of his people. The story climaxes in a battle of literal Biblical proportions between the young man and the giant sent to destroy him.

Relativity have previously said that they plan to give a dark touch to the movie. It was also said that the film will have a modern vibe that harkens to the spirit of films such as ’300′ and ‘The Bourne Identity’.”

Now, what can a movie of this type want with someone who is famous because of the Twilight series?

Lautner’s name was mentioned in a release that also threw in the names Christopher Lambert, Nic Cage and Christian Slater. Now, I can go for all three of those guys. Lambert was The Highlander and starred in a number of B-level action movies, Nic Cage was in Con Air, The Rock and recently appeared in the awesome Drive Angry 3D and Christian Slater was in Broken Arrow. All those movies give them cred.

TWILIGHT hunk Taylor Lautner gave Australian women the green light yesterday as he got up close and personal with 7PM Project host Carrie Bickmore.

Before hitting the red carpet at Chapel St’s Jam Factory, Lautner visited the Channel 10 studios, where he admitting he was single and looking for love Down Under.

Lautner, best known as topless werewolf Jacob in The Twilight Saga, sparked a frenzy from the studio of Twi-hards. Bickmore admitted colleagues Dave Hughes and Charlie Pickering had been slightly starstruck by the actor and his impressive six-pack. And she, too, caught a bit of Taylor fever.

“I’m actually not a Twilight fan, but I feel like I should be. He was gorgeous,” Bickmore said.

Bieber reached that big-baller level thanks to the record-breaking returns from “Never,” which is the most successful concert-themed film in U.S. history, with more than $73 million earned to date.

Nipping at his heels was veteran teen starlet Miley Cyrus, whose haul was $48 million, almost all of it earned from touring.

Other big earners on the list include “Twilight” top wolf Taylor Lautner, who earned $8.5 million for the final two installments of the movie series, as well as $7.5 million for his upcoming starring debut in the action thriller “Abduction.”

Nick Jonas had a very good year as well, with totals around $12.5 million, while “Two and a Half Men” star Angus T. Jones banked $7.8 million, thanks to a $300,000 per episode payday.

Jaden and Willow Smith made the list, with Jaden earning $5 million last year, $3 million of it from his starring role in “The Karate Kid,” while sister Willow’s music career rang up $4 million.

The story of the average Joe schoolkid who suddenly discovers he can turn into a werewolf has been made into a ‘darker and sexier’ proposition for the MTV generation – Twilightified, in other words – and it begins on Sky Living next week.

‘People have been saying: “No, you can’t redo Teen Wolf!” and I laugh and say – just watch,’ says its perky, dark-eyed, 19-year-old star, Tyler Posey, who wasn’t even born when the original came out.

Has he seen it? ‘Oh God yeah,’ he says. ‘I love it. It’s a classic. The creator of this new show made us all have a Teen Wolf party round his house to watch the movie, and that was great.’

That creator is the likeably honest Jeff Davis, the man who brought us Criminal Minds, but, as a comic-book fan, he feels at home in the world of younger fantasy. He’s keenly aware of the trouble jumping on the remake bandwagon can cause – particularly when you dramatically reengineer what you’re trading off.

‘This has been very tricky water to negotiate because, as a writer, the initial reaction is that this is all being done for money, done for brand,’ admits 36-year-old Davis, who cites 1980s teen horror The Lost Boys as the real model for this revamp.

‘And in a way, yes, much of entertainment these days works on brand and franchise, from titles that are known,’ says Davis. ‘But when you sit in a room with other writers, you’re just trying to come up with the best story.’

So is he worried about the nay-sayers? ‘Well, I said the same thing about Battlestar Galactica. But that remake was phenomenal. Because of that show, the detractors haven’t bothered me that much. I wouldn’t have released this show under a different name – Wolf Boy doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.’

This Teen Wolf joins the recent Amanda Seyfried film Red Riding Hood in finally allowing wolves to step into the spotlight again, after playing second fiddle to blood-suckers in the likes of Twilight, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries. For this reason alone, it will make its mark in the current wave of supernatural TV.

‘People want that escapism, that kind of wish fulfilment,’ says Davis, on the appeal of the supernatural genre. ‘But these things are very cyclical. When Scream was released, I remember a spate of horror movies coming out. It just takes a couple of really bad ones to end it. Hopefully, we aren’t one of the really bad ones…’

Davis is hoping to coax some cameos from stars of the original, most likely Jerry Levine and Susan Ursitti, who played the two best friend roles. There’ll be other nods to the past too: there is an element of humour and also some choice rants by the infamous sports coach. The basketball sequences, however, are out – replaced by, um, lacrosse. ‘It was a memorable sport from my own high school experience,’ explains Davis. ‘I always remember the lacrosse guys walking around with their sticks poking out of their bags – they always seemed like gladiators to me.’

Further changes include a dramatic about-turn in the way Scott (Posey) becomes lupine in the first place, and the introduction of parkour, to help our furry friends look cool when they’re bounding around.

The biggest change, though, has also posed the greatest challenge – creating a wolf with brooding sex appeal amid all that hair. ‘We didn’t want him to look like a puppy,’ says Davis. ‘I always say the other shows have werewolves you can pet, we have ones you can kiss. They’re sexy but could rip your throat out.’

So does that mean the (currently single) Posey could trounce his buff Twilight rival Taylor Lautner in a fight? ‘You know, Taylor’s a cool dude,’ says Posey gallantly. ‘I think he’s got me beat right now in the fitness region. But in a werewolf fight? He actually turns into a full-on wolf and I turn into this half-man, half-werewolf creature. I dunno – I would have opposable thumbs, so maybe that would win, as he’s got paws. Maybe I could use them to gouge his eyes out.’

According to funny man Aziz Ansari, our favourite werewolf Taylor Lautner is expected to make an appearance in his new action flick 30 Minutes or Less! Unfortunately, it was confirmed that it was all just a big rumor.

Aziz joked:

People like him, right? Just say he’s in the movie. That Lautner cameo is dope, man! You gotta see that movie with Taylor Lautner!’ I’m just going to say that at the MTV Movie Awards. Taylor Lautner’s in 30 Minutes or Less. Good night!

The third time was the charm for three-time MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss winners Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart … or, at least, it should have been.

For the past two years, the “Twilight” stars have teased Movie Awards audiences with almost-kisses as they accepted their award. So on Sunday night (June 4), when presenters Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds announced that RPattz and KStew had won for their smooch in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” it seemed this year’s show would finally bring the big moment fans have been waiting for. Well, er, it wasn’t.

“I feel bad because I don’t feel like kissing you,” Pattinson apologized to Stewart onstage. “You don’t want to kiss me, do you?”

Stewart, though, seemed more willing. “Well, it’s been a long time and I think maybe we should finally go for it,” she said to cheers from the crowd.

But Pattinson still wasn’t having it. “I just think there’s someone else in the audience who I think will appreciate it a little more,” he said.

Cue the camera cutting to a stone-faced Taylor Lautner.

“Go get him,” Stewart encouraged.

Pattinson then took to the Gibson Amphitheatre floor running. As the audience screamed in excitement, he leaned over and gave Lautner a full-on smooch on the lips as his werewolf co-star wrapped an arm around him. Of course, Lautner also wiped his mouth immediately after (too much tongue?), but Pattinson wasn’t done. Soon he was right back onstage going after Stewart — for real.

She squealed, “No!” and ran away laughing. “What? I want to take you back stage!” Pattinson said with a flirty grin. And the pair made their dramatic and hilarious exit … but still no kiss.

Thanks to “The Twilight Saga,” Taylor Lautner has a bit of a reputation for shirtlessness. At tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is up for eight tubs of Golden Popcorn, including Lautner’s nods for Best Male Performance and Best Kiss with Kristen Stewart.

Movie Awards supervising producer Jane Mun told MTV News that Lautner will certainly have people talking once the show wraps Sunday night thanks to a few surprises in store for the very toned actor — but will he lose his shirt?

“Um, I don’t know,” Mun teased. “I can’t spill the beans. You guys will have to see Taylor in a whole different light. He’s amazing.”

Lautner, along with Stewart and Robert Pattinson, will be on hand at the big show to present an exclusive trailer from “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” Once the trailer premieres at the Movie Awards, airing 9 p.m. ET/PT tonight on MTV, record your video reaction and upload it to Your.MTV.com.
