Over the course of 2010, we all watched as Taylor Lautner landed one impressive role after another and was selected as part of the new “A-list.”
After filming in his first leading role since becoming “Jacob” in the Twilight series (he’s “Nathan” in Abduction — due in theaters September 23rd of this year), he started nabbing roles like the lead in Stretch Armstrong, Cancun, and, most recently, Incarceron.
According to Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood, 2011 is going to be a big one for Taylor Lautner.
I can scoop that Fox 2000 and New Regency each coughed up an 8-digit paycheck to work with 8-pack-abs Tay-Tay for his two only available time slots this year. Meanwhile, three top producers including Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes are circling Taylor to star in their movies for 2012 and beyond.
The first studio discussed there, Fox 2000, is the one making Incarceron, and you can read the full Deadline report for more on that (including the fact that Emma Watson from Harry Potter might be joining him on-screen — can you imagine!?). As for the second, Finke reports:
The 2nd Lautner vehicle is an as–yet-unnamed international spy thriller set up at New Regency described to me as “The Bourne Identity for the next generation.” The story is loosely based on the exploits of Juval Aviv, a former Israeli Mossad agent who was the inspiration for Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award-nominated Munich. Lautner will produce with Alexandra Milchan (who is currently producing The Wolf Of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio), daughter of Israeli mogul Arnon Milchan who is New Regency’s founder.
So, it seems our Jacob has become something of a hot commodity in Hollywood. Guess all those ab workouts are paying off … literally! Eight figures? And to think there was once a time when the world was unsure if he’d be asked to return for New Moon.
(Note that Finke goes on to point out that a lot rests on Lautner’s box office draw with this fall’s Abduction. And speaking to that, his Abduction co-star Lily Collins recently did an interview regarding Taylor Lautner’s work in the movie and said, “I feel people are going to be blown away.”)

When it comes to his upcoming thriller, “Abduction,” Taylor Lautner has spoken enthusiastically about the intense training he endured — including boxing and motorcycle riding — and his excitement for what he terms the film’s “amazing” story.
All good stuff, no doubt, but what many of you really want to know about his first major role outside the “Twilight” franchise is one thing: Just how much shirt-free, ab-proud time is the 18-year-old going to have onscreen?
Hate to dash dreams, but — despite those tantalizing set pics that popped up on the Web last summer — the answer is: not much at all.
“It’s not about that!” co-star Lily Collins laughed in a recent interview. “It’s about his acting skills in this one. I feel everyone is going to be surprised to see how much he’s grown. This movie is not about that aspect of him. It’s very, very, very minimal. He brings so much more than that. I feel people are going to be blown away.”
Collins — who MTV News tapped as one of our 11 for ’11 and who, like Lautner, is about take on a wildly popular book franchise as the star of the “Mortal Instruments” series — told us she learned a ton from watching how the “Twilight” star interacted with his fans during the “Abduction” shoot.
“I would watch the way he deals with his fans. It’s incredible,” she told us. “We’d be shooting at nights where we finish at 7 in the morning, and one night, we had 600 fans in the middle of nowhere in Pittsburgh waiting outside, and it was probably almost 5 in the morning, and he went out and signed every single autograph. He was always there to be with his fans and to make sure they knew he appreciated them.
“I watched that and I took note that it’s always important to give back and to make sure the people that support you know that you support them,” Collins added. “He’s so humble in dealing with everyone that looks up to him.”

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner still retain their throne as the most popular trio of celebrities to pull in box office numbers over Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. After this weekends release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows the box office numbers for the midnight show, Twilight Eclipse retains first place, Twilight: New Moon second place and the new Harry Potter film coming in third. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows raked in 24 million, Twilight: New Moon 26.3 million and Twilight Eclipse 30 million for their midnight showings.
The demographics for these two movies do overlap, however for the midnight showings statistics one needs to remember that many of the huge Harry Potter fans don’t have their own means of transportation and would have had to rely on Mom and Dad to drive them to the show so the weekend statistic probably have a little more meaning.
Box Office Mojo shows Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows earning a spot in the Top 10 Opening weekends landing at #6.
1. “The Dark Knight” Warner Bros. $158,411,483
2. “Spider-Man 3″ Sony $151,116,516
3. “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” Summit Entertainment $142,839,137
4. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” Buena Vista $135,634,554
5. “Iron Man 2″ Paramount $128,122,480
6. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1″ Warner Bros $125,120,000
7. “Shrek the Third” P/DW $121,629,270
8. “Alice in Wonderland” (2010) BV $116,101,023
9. “Spider-Man” Sony $114,844,116
10. “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” Buena Vista $114,732,820
It’s interesting to note how many of these top 10 are family friendly films versus rated R or NC-17.
For November openings, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was beat out again by the vampire and werewolf groupies with Twilight Saga: The New Moon taking #1. However Harry Potter does dominate the November opening statistics taking the next four top spots and beating out the original “Twilight” movie that came in at #7.
1. The Twilight Saga New Moon
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
4. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
5. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

The story of The Twilight Saga will be coming to you soon in comic form. Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are the faces of Fame: The Cast of Twilight.
The newest graphic novel from Bluewater Productions will hit stores at the end of November and feature the previous sold out biographies of Taylor, Kristen, Rob and Stephenie Meyer.
Fame: The Cast of Twilight can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com and the suggested retail price is $14.99.
Other issues have sold out quick in the past so you’ll want to pre-order while you still can!
“The majority of our biography comic books have sold out, despite many shops still under-ordering. Readers have contacted us still trying to find our books,” publisher Darren G. Davis said. “It just goes to show that you don’t have to be mainstream to reach the market. Readers just want great stories with great art, and if you can deliver that to them, they’ll come back for more every month.”

It seems that in order to play a werewolf these days you have to have amazing abs. Taylor Lautner beefed up for his Twilight role – how did you prepare?
That’s the biggest prerequisite I think. People just send pictures of their abs and they can book a job just based off that (laughs.) Werewolves are just a little more masculine, a little bigger. You have your Your Taylor Lautners and that guy on True Blood’s like 9-feet tall and ripped, so… but it wasn’t intimidating. I’m pretty athletic and physical. I can’t sit still so when I have free time, I’m running around, I’m riding a bike, I’m surfing, I’m hitting the gym or doing something. It wasn’t too taxing just to stay in shape.
Werewolves are very hot right now pop-culturally. Do you watch True Blood and Twilight?
Well, I can’t sit still that long but I’ve watched episodes of True Blood; I think that’s a great show. I have seen the first two Twilight movies and I liked it. It’s fun to watch. To see what’s going on with the vampires and the werewolves and everything that’s popping right now, it’s just humbling to be a part of it. Anything that I can do that would be fresh or new within the werewolf community (laughs) is a pleasure.
If you and Taylor Lautner and Sam Trammell from True Blood went into the woods together, who would emerge victorious?
Oh yeah, I’d win for sure. For sure. That’s a no contest.
